Camp Ayandeh JAVAN, meaning camp of the future for the youth, was rolled out in response to calls from parents in the Iranian American community. The camp will serve as a middle school leadership camp for Iranian Americans.
The newly established camp comes six years after the establishment of Camp Ayandeh—a program for high school students. Both camps teach campers leadership skills, expose attendees to peers from within their same culture and allow students to engage in issues of cultural identity.
The first annual Camp Ayandeh JAVAN will be held in Northern Virginia August 22 to August 26 at Hemlock Overlook Regional Park. The camp is open to all rising sixth graders through eighth graders. The cost of attendance is $400 and there are various merit-based scholarships available.
The IAAB is currently looking for counselors for Camp Ayandeh JAVAN. Eligible counselors are high school and university students with a demonstrated passion for leadership and mentorship.
