Arvin Ghahremani (photo) was executed October 11 for murder, making him the first Jew executed by the Islamic Republic in three decades. Iran said he attacked and stabbed a Muslim man with whom he had a dispute. Ghahremani acknowledged killing the man, but said he had acted in self-defense when the man came at him with a knife. International monitors said Ghahremani’s trial did not meet international standards.
