The Gilan province chief of police has confirmed the arrest of 79 people he accused of “promoting new mysticism” in an event held in a remote forest. Police raided the event after seeing it promoted online and arrested 27 women and 52 men. It said the group had “received money and set up illegal excursions … propagating a new, false mysticism.”
