Last Friday was the Sabbath, Sunday was a holiday and Tuesday was a holiday. So many organizations just closed down Saturday and Monday as well. President Ahmadi-nejad, however, did not declare Saturday and Monday holidays for state workers. He has gotten in trouble with the Majlis before for declaring such extra holidays on his own without Majlis approval. One newspaper that didn’t take the big holiday was the reformist daily Etemad, which just resumed publishing last Thursday after being closed for two months—sort of a forced holiday—for offending the authorities.
