It’s been a long wait

Saudi Arabia has finally reopened its embassy in Baghdad after 25 years.  It closed the embassy in 1990 after Saddam Hussein gobbled up Kuwait.  It declined to re-open it after Saddam’s fall when Shiites took control of the government.  The United States has been pressing the Saudis for more than a decade to re-open the embassy saying they can’t expect to have any influence in Baghdad if they don’t have diplomats there.
