The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry last week denied there was any such agreement. Many military analysts say Israeli planes do not have the range to fly from Israel to Iran and back. Thus, a base in Azerbaijan would make an attack threat credible. But there is a difference between making the threat credible and the base a reality. Few believe Azerbaijan, which has long had testy relations with Tehran, would ever go so far as to host Israel aircraft for an attack on Iran.
