Iranian media carried reports in mid-October saying the UAE had released $700 million in frozen Iranian funds as part of an effort to improve relations. The reports quoted Akbar Torki, a Majlis deputy, who was the sole source of the report. Within days, however, both the Majlis website and the state news agency pulled their news stories off their websites. The UAE has not commented.
