Each quarter when another IAEA report on Iran is issued, it routinely quotes the routine sentence that says the IAEA has not found any diversion of Iranian nuclear material. It doesn’t mention that a) no one has ever accused Iran of diverting any of its declared nuclear materials or b) that the IAEA reports have accused Iran of many other failings. But simply quoting the IAEA’s no-diversion language once a quarter is not enough for IRNA. It looks for other ways to make that point in between IAEA reports. This month, it made a point of quoting Prof. Steven Miller (photo) of Harvard as having told a German disarmament conference that the IAEA has repeatedly verified that Iran has not diverted any declared nuclear materials. The grass is also green and the sky blue.
