IRISL goes to court to try save business

of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) have gone to court in Europe saying that sanctions have completely shut them out of any business within the EU.
A total of 36 firms went to the General Court of the European Union in Luxembourg asking that the EU sanctions be annulled.
In their filing, the firms said, “The result [of the sanctions] is that [the 36 companies] are unable to trade or carry out any business at all within the EU, and are not able to obtain insurance or reinsurance for hull or machinery from any European company, and it is prohibited to load or unload their cargoes in EU ports.”
The firms insisted they have never had anything to do with Iran’s nuclear activities, which is the justification for the EU sanctions.
Altogether, the EU has sanctioned IRISL and more than 100 companies that the EU says were created by IRISL to try to evade the sanctions.
