The UN says Iran (and the United States) are among 23 countries currently facing drought emergencies. Six in the Middle East—Iran and its next-door neighbors Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq plus Syria and Kazakhstan—are joined by 14 across Africa, plus Brazil and Chile in South America and the US.
