After winning four straight soccer matches in World Cup elimination play, Iran moved up five places in FIFA’s world ranking of more than 200 national soccer teams. Iran now ranks 26th in the world, just two slots behind Japan, in 24th place, but well ahead of 35th ranked Australia, the third highest team in Asia.
