Iran NOT to be sanctioned this time

September 01, 2017

The Department of Homeland Security says 12 countries, including Iran, refuse to take back their citizens when the US seeks to deport them.  DHS has the legal authority to sanction those countries, but has rarely used it.  Now, DHS says it will sanction four of the 12 countries.  But not Iran.  CNN said the four are Cambodia, Eritrea, Guinea and Sierra Leone.  The other countries refusing to accept their deported nationals are Cuba (huge numbers), China, Vietnam, Laos, Iran, Myanmar, Morocco and Hong Kong.  DHS says there are “tens of thousands” of criminals the US wants to deport.
