Iran can save Japan from radioactivity

Mahmud-Reza Agha-Miri told the Fars new agency Saturday, “Iran has experienced a leap in the nuclear field in the last eight to 10 years.  I am pleased to announce that Iran is one of the countries that can help Japan with regard to the damage inflicted on the Fukushima power plants.”

Agha-Miri said Iran’s ability to solve the leaks of radioactivity indicates Iran’s capabilities may be superior to Japan’s since Iran’s nuclear program is homegrown.  The power plants at Fukushima are American designs.

Agha-Miri did not say what practical experience Iran has had with leaks of radioactivity.   The Islamic Republic has announced no such leaks.

While Agha-Miri described Iran’s nuclear program as home-grown, the two reactors in Iran are both foreign-made.
