Gorgin was the director of Iranian National Television (Channel 2) in the 1970s and often appeared on camera as a program host. For many Iranians in exile, Gorgin’s visage represented the lost era of pre-revolutionary days.
Like many who appeared on state television under the monarchy, his was unwelcome after the revolution and moved to the United States. There he returned to broadcasting.
He was deputy director of Radio Azadi and director of Radio Omid Iran, both based in Los Angeles. In recent years, he had been a regular contributor to Radio Farda.
He received his BA in literature from the University of Tehran and a master’s in communications from the University of Southern California.
In 2007, he underwent heart surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona.
