A raid on an Afghan drug outfit launched jointly by the Afghan Counter narcotics Police, American Special Forces and the US Drug Enforcement Administration netted an eye-popping 20 tons of drugs, which officials said was the largest known seizure of heroin in Afghanistan if not in the world. This was not reported in Iran, which says the United States promotes poppy growing in Afghanistan. The site was in the province of Farah, adjacent to the Iranian border.
