Holocaust denial

June 17, 2022

Kazem Qaribabadi, head of Iran’s human rights office, has lashed out at Germany for sentencing a 93-year-old woman, Ursula Haverbeck (photo), to one-year in prison for denying the Holocaust ever happened.  “Germany fails to tolerate a 93-year-old for merely expressing her views,” he complained, although the Islamic Republic regularly jails people for expressing views the regime does not like.  The Berlin district court ordered Haverbeck to jail for incitement to hate. Presiding judge Lisa Jani told Haverbeck that she was “not a Holocaust researcher [but] a Holocaust denier” who was “spreading poison, not knowledge.”
