The USS Winston S. Churchill answered a distress call from an Iranian dhow in the Arabian Sea October 15. The US Navy said the crew reported it could not re-start its engine because of a dead battery, but had also run out of food and water. The US destroyer provided food and water and inspected the engine, but did not have the kind of battery needed. The Americans then radioed the Omani Coast Guard, which came to the dhow’s aid with a battery.
