The government announced that on May 21 it hanged Yasin Hossainzadeh, the man convicted of attacking the Azerbaijan Embassy in Tehran a year ago because he suspected it had helped his Azerbaijani wife in leaving him and fleeing to Azerbaijan.
The Republic of Azerbaijan has made clear that Iran’s failure to hang him was an impediment to improving relations.
