Supreme Leader Ali Khamenehi has set a goal of training 10 million of Iran’s 85 million citizens to recite the entire Qoran from memory, saying it is the best way to “get closer to God.” The head of the Bayt-ul-Azan Institute shortly afterward announced that his group would set up Qoran memorization schools in 40 cities around Iran.
