Going after Iran

October 14, 2016

The GOP nominee for state treasurer in Missouri, Eric Schmitt (photo), says the state legislature should repeal tax credits for Boeing if its sells any planes to Iran.  Boeing employs thousands of workers at a plant near St, Louis and reportedly has a deal with the state for $229 million in tax credits.   Schmitt said, “I don’t think any tax dollars should go to any company that does business with Iran.”  He also complained that the nuclear deal with Iran“includes a provision allowing the federal government to take action against states” that already have such laws.  That is false.  The agreement obligates the Obama Administration to “urge” states to repeal such provisions.
