Allameh Tabatabai University in Tehran has announced that all classes in the fall term will be segregated by gender. It is believed that will make the university the first to be totally segregated by sex. But Allameh Tabatabai said 98 percent of its undergraduate classes were already segregated in the last term and the only mixed classes were those where just a handful of students from one gender were signed up. Chancellor Sadreddin Shariati said that female students were very supportive of the idea of segregated classes. He also said test scores have improved.
