The office of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier (photo) announced he had decided not to send the Islamic Republic a message of congratulations on the anniversary of the revolution to show Germany’s displeasure with Iran. But his office then goofed and sent such a message anyway. Such messages are a routine practice for every country’s national day.
