Oil Minister Bijan Namdar-Zanganeh has announced that gasoline imports, now running about 7 percent of consumption, will halt soon after Now Ruz when the Persian Gulf Star Refinery comes on stream. He said consumption is now about 70 million liters a day with 5 million of those imported. When the first train of the refinery starts up, that will add 12 million liters a day and Iran will start exporting gasoline.
