As more gasoline refining capacity has come on line, Iran has reduced its requirement for gasoline further. A year ago, when the Rohani Administration ordered an end to the refining of ersatz gasoline in petrochemical plants, Iran imported about 10 million liters of gasoline per day. Now that is down to 4.7 million liters, the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Co. announced last week. That is about 7 percent of daily consumption. It predicted imports would fall to less than 3 percent of consumption at Now Ruz.
