“UNESCO 2030,” a UN document extolling plans for education, including gender equality, has long been controversial in Iran, where the rightwing has presented it as a foreign conspiracy to change Iranian culture. After an uproar a few years ago, the Rohani Administration “suspended” its implementation in Iran. Now, the new Raisi Administration has permanently canceled its implementation within Iran.
