Floridian jailed for harrassment

DASTJERDI. . . jailed

October 11-13

A Florida man whom sheriffs’ detectives say refers to himself as a terrorist has been jailed but for harassing a neighbor, not terrorism.

Ahmad Dastjerdi, 52, is charged with aggravated stalking and making obscene or harassing phone calls.

Authorities say he has been terrorizing a family at Escondido, a gated community in Boca Raton, where he used to live.

Detectives say Dastjerdi, who was born in Iran, likes to refer to himself as a terrorist.  He is charged with leaving more than 50 obscene and threatening voicemails on an ex-neighbor’s home phone and cell phone, threatening to harm him and his teenage daughter.

In one of the voicemails, he allegedly said quote: “Ya, I’m a terrorist. I can’t wait for my tenant to get out of there, to turn that place into a bomb/sink hole.”

Matt Sincoff, a local resident, said, “He’s a pretty weird guy, I mean he’s yelled at us, he’s called us terrorists and like chased us around the neighborhood. It’s crazy.”

Most of the voice-mails attributed to Dastjerdi are laden with profanity and anti-Semitic language.  Some also contain threats against Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw.

Dastjerdi is being held without bond at the County Jail while awaiting a hearing.  He is an electrician licensed by the State of Florida.
