Iran announced Monday it had received the first delivery on its 2007 purchase of S-300 air defense missile systems from Russia. The next day, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Dmitry Rogozin confirmed that delivery had begun.
He said Iran would now withdraw the claim it had filed against Russia in the International Court of Arbitration. If Iran doesn’t do so, deliveries will halt.
There was speculation Russia had delivered parts of a few systems so that Iran wouldn’t have anything usable until it withdrew its claim against Russia for not delivering the systems long ago.
