Bills have been introduced by Republicans in both the US House and Senate to bar the governments of Iran, Russia, China and North Korea from buying farmland in the United States. It is the latest frenzy from the far right about imagined threats from foreigners. Of course, Iran cannot buy US farmland already, under sanctions. Bills introduced in some states would bar any Iranian national, like a Green Card holder, from buying even a house in the state. None of these bills are likely to go anywhere.
Daily woes: The Press Court has ordered the closing of the daily Sazandegi for publishing falsehoods about the rising cost of meat in Iran and thereby causing worries among citizens. But the Judiciary said a judge has now ruled there were no falsehoods about the cost of meat in the story and allowed the paper to continue publishing.
