Seven family members have died after one fell into a well and the others jumped in to rescue those that went in before.
The water well in Lorestan province was said to be 50 meters (165 feet) deep.
A child fell into the well in a rural village May 9. Then seven male adults jumped in to try a rescue effort, including the child’s father and brother. All became trapped.
Emergency help was summoned with long ropes and breathing devices. They eventually pulled everyone to the surface, but only one was brought up alive. He has been hospitalized in intensive care.
