Fair play award:

A soccer player with a junior Iranian league team has been awarded the Pierre de Coubertin World Fair Play Trophy.  During a game in January 2010, Amir Motevasselzadeh deliberately kicked the ball out of bounds to bring play to a halt rather than trying to score when he saw the opponent’s goalkeeper had been injured.  He said, “The manager was not angry with me because, in our culture, these things are very important.  For us, we believe that doping something with fair play is more important even than scoring goals or winning a medal. Nobody was angry with me.” Motevasselzadeh plays for Moghavemat Sepasi.
