Ashraf has lived in seclusion for security reasons—she is the Pahlavi most hated by the revolutionary regime—for decades and has not been seen in public since 1981. It is not even known for certain where she resides, with various reports putting her in Paris and New York. Zahedi has lived for decades in Montreux, Switzerland.
