The Baluchi rebel group Jaish al-Adl set off a bomb outside the Housing Foundation offices, seen above, in Chabahar in Sistan va Baluchestan province February 22. The group said it did so to protest the regime’s demolitions of houses along the Makran coast. The group said it entered the building, ordered the staff out and then detonated a bomb.

The government did not deny that description, though it was a new tactic by the group, which is infamous for its bloodiness and its efforts to maximize casualties. There were no casualties and, as the picture shows, minimal damage to the structure. Seven days later in the province, however, two Basijis were killed in a shootout and hours later a man was caught on a security camera walking up to a police car and gunning down the two policemen seated inside.
