Evin interrogator is now jailed inside Evin cell

December 31, 2021

A notorious interrogator of political prisoners in Evin Prison has reportedly been jailed himself in Evin—but not for tormenting or torturing prisoners under his control.

Elham Zolfaghari, wife of a man imprisoned in Evin, tweeted that interrogator Behruz Shah Mohammadi was recently jailed for theft or espionage.

IranWire said Mohammadi was known not just for his interrogations, but also for blocking prisoners from getting medical leaves and for canceling releases on bail.

It said human rights attorney Nasrin Sotoudeh was arrested in 2018 on Mohammadi’s signed warrant for protesting against Iran’s dress code.
