While the Islamic Republic routinely complains that the order is an example of American hostility toward Iran, the main purpose of the order now is to protect Iranian property in the United States from being seized by Americans who have won suits against the Islamic Republic. As such, it would be a truly hostile American move if the order were not renewed.
