Guards at the Iranian embassy in Beirut broke up a sit-in in front of the embassy gates last Wednesday by firing their guns in the air. The sit-in was staged by relatives of two brothers who are leaders of the Shiite Amal movement who have been arrested by Lebanese police on charges of involvement in the December kidnaping of Hannibal Qadhafi, son of the late Libyan strongman Moammar Qadhafi, who is believed to have killed Musa as-Sadr, the founder of Amal. The family is demanding that Amal and Hezbollah—and, by extension, Iran—do more to free the two brothers.
