Embarrassment

November 08-2013

RoussefBrazil’s intelligence agency, Abin, admitted Monday that a news report saying it has spied on Iran, Russia and the United States was correct.  It said it had followed some Iranian and Russian diplomats on foot and by car around Brazil and had monitored a piece of property owned by the United States in Brasilia.  The admission was pretty small stuff compared to the NSA revelations, but it was a major embarrassment for President Dilma Rousseff (photo), who canceled a state visit to the United States, taking offense that the United States would spy on a friendly Brazil.
