Outsiders may not think that Christianity is exactly booming in the Islamic Republic. But the ayatollah says it is. He blamed the organized efforts of the Pope, although the proselytizers arrested by the regime tend to be evangelicals, not Roman Catholics. The ayatollah said he frets often over the growth of Christianity and even knows large numbers of youths converting in Qom itself.
