Editor, translator, poet dies at 89

He wrote and published his own works of poetry, and also wrote extensively on the works of prominent Persian poets.

He worked for the Iran Times from 1973 to 1996. He was the newspaper’s chief translator as he could handle texts in French, Arabic, English, German and Italian.

Several years ago, he moved to New Jersey and opened the Iran Times’ regional office for the New York area.

In retirement, he not only kept up his writing of poetry but also added to his interests by taking up music three years ago. He was learning to play the flute, violin, piano and the Persian traditional tombak and tar. He also learned to make tars.

He is survived by his wife, Haydeh, and two daughters, Mona and Bita.
