Iran expelled two Dutch diplomats this month, in a tit-for-tat response for the Netherlands’ expelling two Iranian diplomats two months ago. Iran’s action was expected. It is normal diplomatic practice that when a country expels a diplomat, the other country expels a diplomat of identical rank.
