Firoozeh Dumas, best known as the author of “Funny in Farsi,” has been living in Germany with her French husband the past six years. She recently announced that her family is heading back to California. Dumas often observed how she came to the US age 7 and quickly learned English, often serving as a translator for her mother who always tangled with the English language. More recently she observed that her daughter was seven when the family moved to Germany and Firoozeh has had to suffer the embarrassment of using her daughter as a translator of German.
