Dubai says Rezai died of drug OD

used to treat schizophrenia, a post-mortem in Dubai has concluded.

Rezai, 35, was found lifeless on a mattress last week in his hotel room in Dubai.

A statement attributed to his father’s office earlier called the death “suspicious.”

Razai’s father, Mohsen Rezai, is the secretary of the Expediency Council and a former chief of the Pasdaran and a failed presidential candidate in 2009.

The body of Ahmad Rezai – who also holds US nationality under the name of Tom Anderson – was found after the hotel staff tried unsuccessfully to communicate with him.

Dubai Police Chief Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan says the forensic investigation “rules out any criminal suspicion.”

“US businessman Tom J. Anderson’s death occurred because he consumed excessive amounts of a medicine used as an anti-depressant and for the treatment of schizophrenia,” Khalfan told state news agency WAM.
