Esfahanis celebrated last week as water returned to the Zayandeh River. They stretched across the Si o Seh Pol bridge to look at the strange liquid. The river isn’t very deep and there are some “islands” in it; note the group standing high and dry at the far left. The water normally returns for the winter, but the Zayandeh should be a dry riverbed again by Now Ruz.
