is funneling government money into the provinces to elect its supporters in the Majlis elections that are 10 months away.
The Fars news agency quoted Deputy Jafar Qaderi, the deputy for Shiraz, as saying the governor general for Fars province, who is appointed by Ahmadi-nejad’s interior minister, is sometimes budgeting triple the needed amount for development projects so the project manager can divert the money to the upcoming election campaign.
Qaderi did not name any projects or project managers being over-funded in that manner,
Deputy Fazel Musavi from Khodabandeh in Khuzestan province told Fars: “There are political currents in this province that are lobbying extensively to gain seats in the Majlis and are using government facilities.”
