‘Death to Seif’

June 16, 2017

Police have dispersed protesters gathered outside the Central Bank demanding it pay them the money they lost in the collapse of the Caspian Credit Institute, which was created by the government in the 1990s to make low interest loans to the public.  The state has ignored the collapse and people who had invested in it periodically have demonstrated for years.  The latest protest group chanted “Death to Seif,” a reference to Valiollah Seif, the current governor of the Central Bank.
