The time in which the Expediency Council can review the issue of Iran complying with the standards of the Financial Affairs Task Force (FATF) is about to expire. But the Supreme Leader in mid-December extended the deadline, which most people took as his endorsement of Iran complying with the FATF standards. The government has been on a campaign this past month saying the FATF blacklist, which includes only Iran and North Korea, is worse than US sanctions in blocking Iran’s access to international banking.
