Darvish lose first game in US

“If this were my first [career] loss, I might be emotional,” Darvish said after the game.  “But in high school and as a professional in Japan, I had experience losing a lot of games, so I’m not going to dwell on this.”

Darvish’s Texas Rangers lost 4-2 to the Cleveland Indians in Cleveland.  The Rangers have lost four of their last five games since losing power hitter Adrian Beltre to an in jury.

But Darvish struck out 11 Cleveland batters, his largest line of strikeouts in a game in the US so far.

On the other hand, he walked four batters.  He has given up a lot of walks in his six games.

Despite the recent string of losses, the Rangers have 18 wins against 10 defeats and have the third best percentage of the 30 teams, trailing only Baltimore and Washington by a hair.  The 162-game season is now one-sixth complete.
