Yu Darvish returned to the style for which he is known last week, winning his first game in three starts by leading the Texas Rangers to an 8-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels.
In his first two outings, Darvish struck out only five and four batters. Four is the fewest number of batters he has ever struck out in his major league career.
But against the Angels, he struck out 10. This was the 29th time in 103 major league starts that Darvish has struck out 10 or more batters in a game.
Furthermore, Darvish walked only two Angels, an improvement over his two previous outings, in one of which he walked more batters than he struck out!
The difference appeared to be his slider, a pitch he used to make a number of his strikeouts last week.
Darvish now has one win, one loss and one no-decision in his three starts this season.
