Darvish has lost three of his last four games and is now 11-7 for the year.
Texas lost Saturday to the Chicago White Sox 9-5. Darvish gave up eight hits and five earned runs, among his worst statistics of the year. The Rangers and Darvish weren’t helped by the stumbling offense. They had runners in scoring position eight times and only manages to score a single run off that. They also committed two errors.
Darvish’s earned run average (ERA) slipped to 4.05 as a result of the game. That is far from the 1.99 ERA career average he had in Japan. It ranks him 71st among the 146 major leagues pitchers with more than 60 innings under their belt so far this year.
Darvish remains an outstanding strikeout artist. He ranks 6th in strikeouts among those 146 pitchers. But he also ranks 5th among those pitchers in the number of walks he has given up. And he ranks 85th in the number hits made off him.
The Rangers currently have the fourth highest winning percentage of the season among the 30 major league teams. And the Rangers are atop their division in the race for the American League pennant.
