The cylinder now goes back to the British Museum in London.
At the closing ceremony for the exhibit at the National Museum of Iran, the British Museum’s director, Neil MacGregor, announced his wishes for more exchanges of artifacts between the two museums.
No reference was made to Iran’s threats of last year to sever all ties with the British Museum if it did not quickly send the cylinder to Tehran. All appears to be on an even keel now.
But the National Museum of Iran just a few weeks did sever its links with the Louvre in Paris because that museum has failed to send some artifacts to Iran for display as planned some years ago.
