In preparation for the World Cup finals in November and December, Iran and Canada have planned a friendly match for June 5 in Vancouver. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, whose government has had very testy relations with Iran since Pasdaran shot down a passenger jet with many Iranian-Canadian dual nationals on board, was not happy. “I think it wasn’t a very good idea to invite the Iranian soccer team here to Canada. But that’s something that the organizers are going to have to explain,” he said. He did not, however, block the issuance of visas to the team members.
